There have been many trends and fashion fads in Japan over the years, and as such, many prominent Japanese fashions grow and change over the years.

An inactive style is defined as one that is no longer seen on the streets, or has a large following. Most of these styles still have a few individuals, and sometimes a small community, of those who still wear the style. But due to their extreme decline in popularity, are considered inactive.
