Hadeko is a Japanese fashion style that utilizes a vibrant color palette consisting out of primary and rainbow colors.[1] It is said to have originated in Amerikamura, Osaka, during the mid to late 2000's. [2]

The Name[]

"Hade" (派手) means "exaggerated, eye-catching" in Japanese, and refers to the style's heavy use of bright colors.

Style Basics[]

In terms of clothing, common are oversized tie-dye shirts as well as vibrant harem pants. There's also a frequent usage of vintage cartoon shirts sporting vibrant colors within the style.[3]

Another characteristic of the style is overly poofy wigs that are also known as as "bonzura" (ボンズラ). In combination with vibrant hair accessories, the wigs become very eye-catching.
