Haaady Gyaru is a substyle of gyaru that was popular during 2005 to 2009, and focused on blending American and British styles with gyaru fashion.
Style Basics[]
The name Haaady or Hade comes from the Japanese word 派手 (hade) meaning flashy or in-your-face, and accurately describes the substyles eclectic fashion choices.
Hade gyaru is known for its bright color palette, focusing almost completely on neons, with various loud prints, such as animal prints, and black accents thrown in.
The style is generally a more sporty version of gyaru, with athletic wear often thrown in, as well as hoodies. 80s inspired pop clothing is also often seen, such as tutus and bright neon leggings under shorts.
The style was coined by Kaoru Watanabe and the magazine Egg in the early 2000s, but it wasn't until the later 2000s that the style truly caught on.[1]
