Casual Lolita (カジュロリ), as the name implies, is a casual version of Lolita Fashion. This style is also often mislabeled as Otome fashion. [1][2] Some see this style as more of a microstyle or alternative wearing variant of lolita instead of an own distinct substyle.[3]

Style Basics[]

Casual lolita is a broad term that can encompass many different versions of a casual lolita style.

At its most toned down, casual lolita can include shorter skirt lengths, no petticoats, t-shirt's and see-through tights, no tights or socks, and other mainstream fashion choices. [1][2]

On the opposite end, casual lolita may simply be a brand JSK without a petticoat or blouse, or wearing a sweater over a JSK, lighter accessories, or other simple variations of the lolita classic style and silhouette. [1]

Arguements vary on what qualitifies casual lolita as still being lolita. Some argue that no matter what, a petticoat must be worn, while others advocate only for brands or other lolita aesthetic pieces or styles. More extreme arguments say casual lolita isn't even lolita and shouldn't be considered as such. [4]
